The Group Relaxometer® is designed for the relaxation of groups of up to ten people at once, under the control of a supervisor. It is based on our standardRelaxometer design and provides two sorts of information to each of ten people simultaneously.
- A pair of finger sensors connect each user to the instrument. These measure skin conductance and provide:
- an auditory signal to one ear of the standard stereo headphones worn by that user, and
- a meter reading on the central control panel corresponding to that auditory signal.
- Each person receives through the other ear a common channel of music or speech provided either:
- from a cassette player or
- by the supervisor through a microphone connected to the control panel.
Connections to the users (who may number between one and ten) are made in two stages; from each side of the central case runs a multicore cable of two or three meters to a Distribution Box. Each of the two Distribution Boxes has five sockets for sensors and five for standard stereo headphones, the pairs being numbered to correspond to zones on the control panel. Each user's sensors and headphones are plugged into one pair of sockets. This arrangement avoids a tangle of twenty wires encircling the person at the controls.
This product is made to order and not held in stock. Prepayment is required.
Specifications
The instrument is made up of circuits used in the Model Q Relaxometers and the specification is therefore similar.
- Sensors: Silvered Velcro attached with Velcro. Mixed cable lengths plug into Distribution Boxes.
- Conductance range: 0.1 micromho to 30 micromho. Sensitivity: typically 10% change in pitch for 1% change in conductance.
- Output: pulse train whose spacing varies with conductance between sensors and with Frequency control setting, and amplitude varies with Volume control setting. Output to headphones only. Visual indication of frequency on a meter for each channel on main unit, used by supervisor to adjust Frequency control for each person. Separate amplifier for common voice channel, with microphone and cassette player inputs.
- Case: Injection moulded plastic with metal panels.
- Dimensions: 400 x 230 x 145mm.
- Power Supply: Isolating supply giving 6V DC Dimensions: 115 x 90 x 75mm. Weight 1.1kg
- Weight: Main unit about 2.6kg excluding headphones. Total about 7kg complete.
- Includes: Ten sets of sensors and a spare set. Power supply. Two multi-core cables and Distribution Boxes. One microphone. Ten pairs of stereo headphones.
