Notes on this FTP distribution of Aleph One PC Card software
------------------------------------------------------------
In this directory you should find a range of software releases for Aleph1 
Acorn PC cards. Each release is a Sparkive.


Organization:

What you will find where:
* This directory -         current release versions of !PC.
                           Also v2.16 and v1.99 Windows driver releases - 
                           Armdrv216.arc & armdrv199.arc
                           And SBE/inf - replacement Soundblaster installer
                           for PCPro to stop Win95 removing your sound.
* betaversions directory - current beta releases for !PC.
* oldversions directory -  old !PC releases (sometimes needed for obscure 
                            circumstances)
* 3rdParty directory -     various utilities produced by 3rd parties for 
                            use with the PC card.

                          DOSmount - allows Direct SCSI drives to be viewed

                          RISCUTILS - various desktop utils - one for the PC
                          ROMptch202 - RISCOS 3.6/3.7 patch - recommended
                          SerialPC   - Atomwide/Serial Port serial cards drivers

                          Txtprt102.zip - Text conversion util
                          Win95Kbd.arc - Win95 keyboard support patch
                          

Available releases:

ARMDRV:
Current (v2.16) ARMDRV Windows driver release. This is suitable for v 2.03 or
later of !PC. The file is armdrv216.arc.

ARMDRV v1.99 Windows driver release. This is suitable for all versions of
!PC from v1.84-2.00. The file is amdrv199.arc.

!PC:
These releases are available for different cards and different levels of
stability:

Note that if the host for your 16-bit Rev1 card is a 300/400 series
Archimedes, then you should (generally) stick to v1.72, rather than v1.92

If you need the card to get the date right after 1999.12.31 then you need
version 2.06

The Rel189l (2nd processor cards only) release or later has a new !PCConfig
application. This needs a set of toolbox modules. If you do not already have
these, then you must download the toolbox sparkive too. Put the files into
your !boot.Resources.!System.Modules directory.
